Project Discovery

After initial introductions, the guys at Webmantica™ will try to establish what is needed and how Webmantica™ can help! First of all, before any contract is ever signed, our prospective clients are asked to fill out a project survey outlining general details about what you would like to accomplish. Then, a needs analysis meeting is scheduled. It is during this time that we will have the chance to do what we do best: listen. And you talk. Not only do we want to listen to you talking about your project details, but also know all about your business, your vision, and who you are as a business. If we are unsure what you want to do, we will ask lots of questions. Lots of questions. We might also toss out a few ideas at this time. Then, we start doing our homework and preparing what will be our proposal.

Once everything is clear, the terms are acceptable, and we've all agreed and would like to work together, a contract and any NDAs you may have are signed. It is during this time that costs are finalized. We also require a deposit, which varies with the size of the project. We will set you up with username/password credentials to access our clients restricted area, so you will always be able to check on your project status. Then, we go back to work. The project discovery phase has officially started.

During project discovery, we focus on three main research areas:

  • Functionality Assessment. In order to design a website, you need to know what it will do and contain. Duh! A detailed list of all website functionalities is prepared at this point. By the time we get to the third research step, we will already know exactly what the website capabilities will be.
  • Competitive Analysis. Not only do we want to know everything about your business, but also learn what your competitors are doing. We look at your competitors' websites and analyze them in detail. This helps us better understand your particular market niche and make sure we are not missing anything important.
  • Functionality Flow Chart. During this time, we take the results of our Functionality Assessment and draw a simple but efficient functionality flow chart outlining who does what and how. This includes listing paths that users must follow in order to use a specific functionality such as registering for or accessing your account area.
