Website Optimization

Did your website's traffic recently get the boost you have been waiting for so long? Has your website been experiencing rendering slowness too? Well, if you think there is a correlation between the two behaviors, you are probably right. A sudden website traffic increase MAY cause a drop in rendering speed if nothing has been done to accomodate that. Good news is we can help!

However, before you start rushing to upgrade to a brand new top-notch web server and part with your hard earned cash, we would like you to know a few things. First of all, upgrading to a better webserver is advisable ONLY if other website optimization techniques have been successfully implemented. Then, if your website still does not show a noticeable increase in rendering speed, you can start considering upgrading to a better web server.

There are several website optimization techniques we have successfully implemented for our clients over the years.

  • Clean, valid XHTML/CSS code. Altough this is not considered a website optimization technique per se, it should be part of every website optimization guideline as an important pre-requisite.
  • Reducing HTTP Requests. Every image you show on your website issues a separate HTTP request to your web server. This is also true for any client-side script and stylesheet your website uses to make your users fall in love with your website. We can dramatically reduce the number of HTTP requests by combining the most common images into smaller image sprites, as well as combining scripts and stylesheet to reduce resources load.
  • GZIP Compression. Has your website been gzipped lately? There are several parts of your website which should be gzipped in order to dramatically reduce page weight by up to 70%. Most websites should at least gzip their HTML documents. Gzipping scripts and stylesheets comes right afterwards.

These are just a few of the several website optimization techniques we can use to significantly speed your website up. So don't rush upgrading to a new, expensive web server. Ask us first!
